PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 18, 2026
Overview
dearest is designed as a private family journal for letters, voice notes, photos, videos, sealed future memories, printable books coming soon, and story cards. Our privacy approach is simple: your family memories should stay yours.
Information you create in dearest
Depending on the features you use, dearest may let you create or store letters, journal entries, voice notes, photos, videos, captions, recipient names, dates, sealed-memory settings, story cards, and printable keepsake books when that feature becomes available.
Local and iCloud-first storage
dearest is intended to be local/iCloud-first. That means your private memory content is stored on your device and/or in Apple-managed iCloud storage associated with your Apple ID where supported. dearest does not plan to operate a backend-hosted memory vault by default.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your private family memories.
- We do not use your letters, photos, voice notes, or videos for advertising profiles.
- We do not make your memories public by default.
- We do not train AI models on your private family content without clear, separate consent.
App Store, email, and support data
If you request early access, contact support, or join a launch list, we may receive your email address and the message you send. If dearest is distributed through the App Store, Apple may process purchase, download, crash, and analytics information under Apple’s own policies and settings.
Exports and sharing
dearest may let you export memories as PDFs, ZIP files, story cards, and printable books when that feature becomes available. You control when you create or share those exports. Once you send an export to another person or service, their handling of that file is outside dearest’s control.
Security
dearest is designed for protective features such as Face ID, device passcode, PIN-gated edits, and Apple platform security. No method of storage or transmission is perfect, but the product is built around minimizing unnecessary collection and keeping sensitive content under user control.
Children and family content
dearest is for preserving family memories. Parents or guardians are responsible for choosing what to save, export, or share about children and family members.
Deleting your information
Because dearest is intended to be local/iCloud-first, deleting app data from your device and iCloud should remove the private memory content stored there. If you emailed us for support or early access, you can ask us to delete that contact information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as dearest develops. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
